THE HARDER THEY COME
GarciaLive volume 2 is the complete soundboard recording of the Jerry Garcia Band at the Greek Theater in Berkeley California August 5, 1990. Banjo genius Béla Fleck opened the show and sat in with the band in the second set (including “The Harder They Come,” heard in this week’s GD Hour. Release date is June 25, and they’re taking pre-orders now.

DG and Rumpke Mountain Boys at the Dark Star Jubilee

Rumpke Mountain Boys surprise everyone by showing up early at the festival to play with David Gans. They play a plucky little “Shakedown Street,” then some David Gans originals that describe his history with the Grateful Dead family, including “what I learned from the Grateful Dead [“Life Is a Jam”],” and “music festivals [“River and Drown”].” Rumpke’s picking and Gans’s delightful songwriting puts a smile on everyone’s face.
