“Attics of Our Lives” book for KPFA auction
The Attics of Our Lives: Posters and Art of the Grateful Dead Archive
This 225-page book documents the special one-night-only preview exhibit of the Grateful Dead Archive held Nov. 5, 2011, at McHenry Library, UC Santa Cruz. Written by Grateful Dead Archivist Nicholas Meriwether, the book documents the rich history of Grateful Dead poster art and how that illustrates the band’s archive at UCSC. With feature interviews with Stanley Mouse and hundreds of color illustrations, the book is a fine introduction to how the band’s legacy is being preserved and presented in Santa Cruz.
The book was given to those who attended the benefit event. Nick Meriwether was kind enough to offer us a copy to auction off for KPFA. It’s a hard-cover book, beautifully printed on high-quality paper.
Let’s begin the bidding at $100. Auction ends February 1. Proceeds go to KPFA.
New auction item: Amarra
Sonic Studio has donated a copy of Amarra MINI, widely recognized as the best computer audio player for the Macintosh (and the 2011 Stereophile Computer Audio Component of the Year), for auction.
This is a consumer audio playback system that uses the same amazing technology used in my digital audio workstation, soundBlade SE. It works independently or with your iTunes playlists. This is the way to get the best sound out of a Mac-based audio system. I’m going to use it for music playback on marathon day – everything from CDs to 96/24 high-res audio files.
Amarra MINI retails for $295 (but it’s on sale for $200 right now).
Let’s begin the bidding at $100, please. Auction closes on February 1, and proceeds go to KPFA. Winning bidder will receive download instructions and an activation code.
Live music on the KPFA marathon 2/4
Just confirmed that Jeff Pehrson will bring his wonderful band The Fall Risk to the KPFA performance studio for a live set during the KPFA Grateful Dead marathon February 4.
We’ll also have a live set from the David Nelson Band, piped in frmo Hawaii!
