GREATEST PUMP SONG EVER WROTE
Mickey Hart, Rolling Thunder
THE PUMP SONG (GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD)
GRANMA’S COOKIES
“Greatest Pump Song Ever Wrote” is from the first radio show I ever did, on the KFOG Deadhead Hour February 18, 1985. I had audio clips of Robert Hunter, Mickey Hart, and Bob Weir talking about the unique history of the song “Greatest Story Ever Told.” Mickey was kind enough to invite me to his studio and pull out the multitrack master reel and play the original pump track, the log drum overdubs, etc. “Greatest Story” was one of the first songs that hooked me on the Grateful Dead.
DG interview on WFHB
I did an interview with Rich Reardin for Jason Wilber’s WFHB (Bloomington IN) show In Search of a Song.
“Down to Eugene”
Performance at Berkeley Bob’s Coffee House in Cullman, Alabama 10/20/09. Video by Uncle John. Song by Jim Page. Studio version is on my CD The Ones That Look the Weirdest Taste the Best.
