BIRD SONG

I especially enjoyed the interplay between Jerry Garcia’s guitar and Brent Mydland’s keyboards in “Bird Song.” Lots of interesting adventures in this recording – we’ll hear more of 4/3/82 in the next few weeks.

I’ve been listening to the Dead & Company summer tour as it has unfolded, and I am seriously impressed! I mean, I knew it would be good, but it is exceeding my high expectations! I’ll be featuring more of 6/30/18 and other highlights of this tour over the coming weeks and months. You can get Dead & Company live shows in a variety of formats from livedead.co

The Barton Hills Choir is a grade-school ensemble from Austin, Texas, under the direction of Gavin Tabone. I’ve done three live performances with the Choir, and I contributed to two songs on their second collection of Grateful Dead favorites. Here’s a link to a video for “Eyes of the World.”

Carnahan on “Drop the Bone”

Got a nice email from Danny Carnahan, founder of Wake the Dead, who recently bought a copy of Drop the Bone:

“I’m enjoying the heck out of the new CD. Your singing has never been more relaxed and fluid. Well done! And I was amused at the shoutout for Haight and Buena Vista*. I lived at that corner for nearly two years in the early ’80s. And today’s favorite rhyme is ‘Marco Polo’ with ‘just a solo.’ Ha! The bonus CD was a fun listen as well. The trimmed-down radio mixes were well-considered and retained the fun and the punch of the full-length versions.”

You can order the CD and/or the bonus disc here!
