Ack! I just looked at the time and realized I won’t be able to fit “Lovelight” in without spilling over into Larry Kelp’s program. Sorry about that!
I listened to the 2/27/69 Dark Star through Lovelight in my studio last week and just fell in love with it all over again. I liked it so much I put it on again during a party over the weekend. Everybody else loved it, too.

Never blogged before. Am I set up?
You’re here, and you’re posting! Welcome!!
This is yet another activity I would not have tried if not for the Dead. Hello, David! Wow! I’ve been taping the shows on KFCF for almost ten years. Is there a term for a person that becomes a Deadhead by just listening to “Dead to the World”? A “Dead to the World Head” or something. I went to one show in ’94 before I knew what was going on, but I was converted in ’95 or so. Thanks to KPFA, the Dead and you for changing my life.
Thank you for listening!
I am from down in Merced. I am sure there a few “Deadheads” around here. I did go see “Jerry ‘s Kid’s ” At Club Fred in Fresno a few times. That must have been 6 or 7 years ago. What does Phil Coulson, the guitar player, (is that right?) do now?
I haven’t seen Phil lately. Not sure what he’s up to. Bustar, the former rhythm guitarist of Jerry’s Kids, lives up in Sonoma County – he plays in a band called Stony Point that also features Karen Hicks, who posts as krh on DeadNet Central. She mentioned that she, Bustar, and her husband Marc played in their studio on New Year’s Eve.
Hi Dave, this is Dave. I posted a reply to Gary Lambert’s comments about that video but I guess that’s in another part of space. I saw all 3 of Phil’s shows last week–got shut out of the Fillmore and Warfield first time around, but when the band released a few tix last week I was in the right place at the right time. What a way to end/begin the year!!!
Thanks for joining us, Dave!
What about Duane Day?
That’s the Dave of MIT fame (or infamy).
I bought that Fillmore West 1969 Box Set knowing that it was a future collector’s item. We already had the 2 track mixes pulled from the archive about 6 months ago.
Then downloaded most of that 1969 stuff before it was too late…
Will they ever release the 10 disc set again? Or is there no chance?
Jeffrey Norman said they’d figure out a way to get the boxed set material out there – probably in the download series.
That was the 2/27/69 Lovelight we missed? Not to worry, it’ll be on my CD player as soon as your show is over!
