The KPFA fund-raiser started today (May 9), and continues through the end of the month. This affects Dead to the World, of course, and here’s some info on what we have in store:
Wednesday, May 10, 8-10pm: Phone interview with Keller Williams, regarding the CD Grass by Keller and the Keels and the Jam in the Dam DVD. We’ll have both the CD and the DVD available as thank-you gifts.
Also: In-studio interview with Peter Lavezzoli, author of The Dawn of Indian Music in the West: Bhairavi. Peter has some great music to share with us, and we may get a phone visit from Mickey Hart.
Wednesday, May 17, 8-10pm: Guest hosts Phil Osegueda and Tim Lynch will feature 2 hours of the music of Neil Young. They’ll play tracks from Young’s much talked-about new release Living With War, as well as material spanning Young’s long career, with an emphasis on cuts that aren’t heard as often.
Wednesday, May 24, 8 pm to midnight: Derk Richardson and Larry Kelp take over the entire evening music time slot for their annual birthday salute to Bob Dylan.
Looks like a great lineup of upcoming broadcasts! I’ll be especially interested in the Neil Young material.
I also must say that Tim did a great job a few weeks back with his interview of Charlie Musselwhite and I enjoyed the tunes from Charlie’s new release.
Zero’s version of “Gomorrah” with Donna Jean Godchaux MacKay was also a nice treat!

Keep in mind that there are some oeople who want to hear Grateful Dead during this spot. I am one of them, even though I agree that hearing Charlie was worth his weight in Marine Band Harmonicas, the Indian misic feature is exellent and I will enjoy Mr. Young tonight and Mr. Dylan next week…and having recieved a e.i.c. from the i.r.s. I plan to update my low income subscription to KPFA this month – that said: Play GD on d.t.t.w.!
