Vince tribute tonight: four hours

Larry Kelp has graciously given up his show “Sing Out” so I can go til midnight with tonight’s Vince tribute. I’ve got a lot of Vince’s friends and colleagues lined up to call in: Prairie Prince, Michael Cotten, Todd Rundgren, Michele Rundgren, Bob Weir, Steve Kimock, Robin Sylvester, Tom Constanten, and maybe a surprise or two. I’ve got several interviews with Vince that I recorded over the years, and tons of music from all phases of his career.

The show will be broadcast on KPFA 94.1 in Northern California, and webcast on kpfa.org, kfcf.org, and nugs.net

Tonight! Wednesday, June 14, 8pm to midnight PDT.

  1. Kudos to Larry for allowing this to be the expanded program it needed to be (in advance). And thank you for the heads up….should be good.

If you are waffling on any material to choose between, may I make this one vague steering suggestion?

When I saw the the Grateful Dead play with Vince, they did a jam which eventually turned into Eternity, it had a great beat, was very, bluesy…I don’t know what the song before it was, or who sang it – it was a second set, at HJK, ’94, or early 95.

Not much to go on – I know, but I really dug it at the time, so I’d be thrilled to learn what it was that I saw that night. One other clue I can give you: During the first set that night, Jerry sang his heart out on So Many Roads.

    Peace, Mike.
