THE OTHER SIDE
The late archivist Dick Latvala gave me this fragment of an early Grateful Dead set as filler on a tape of 3/18/67, and identified it as being from the night before, March 17, 1967 at Winterland in San Francisco. When I played it on KPFA a few weeks ago, a listener emailed to tell me that the set list matched DeadBase‘s listing of a show from November of 1966. I don’t think Dick would have misled me, so I’m going to stick with 3/17/67 as the date, but it’s not that big a deal anyway. Did we enjoy the music? That’s what matters!
David Murray‘s Grateful Dead CD appears to be out of print, but there are few copies available via amazon. You just gotta poke around.

I got it back in ’98 or so, supposedly from DL via a foaf. Date was listed as the 18th then. My recollection is that at some point Jerry mentions it’s the “post-Chuck Berry” portion of the show, which would line up with the ’67 date not the ’66.
