The new CD by Little Feat, Rooster Rag, includes four songs (including the title track) written by Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter and Little Feat’s keyboardist, Bill Payne. I’ve been a fan of the band since the very early ’70s, and I was delighted to hear their cover of “Tennessee Jed” at a Rex Foundation benefit a few years back. (The Dead’s 1978 album Shakedown Street was produced by the late Little Feat founder and slide guitar wizard Lowell George, by the way.)
