Brokedown Palace – Mickey Hart Band 10/19/12 Variety Playhouse, Atlanta (set 2)

Hard to Handle – Grateful Dead 6/13/69 Selland Arena, Fresno CA
There’s an electric piano on this song, no organ. Maybe the organ was late getting to the stage, or it was DOA at showtime. TC (presumably) plays the piano on the opening song, but there are no keys at all on “Me and My Uncle.” The organ finally turns up in the mix near the end of “Sitting on Top of the World,” and after they finish the next song, “Beat It On Down the Line,” Jerry (I’m pretty sure) says, “Is the organ working yet?” So we get a unique version of “Hard to Handle” thanks to a hardware problem.
