SCARLET BEGONIAS
Grateful Dead Records is taking orders for Pacific Northwest ’73-’74: The Complete Recordings – six complete shows, two each from from Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. I was at the 5/19/74 show in Portland, and it’s one for the ages (you’ve heard the second-set jam on the GD Hour many times over the years). The other five shows are damn good, too! (This “Scarlet Begonias” is from my stash – the mastered recordings are going to sound even better!)
Support for the Grateful Dead Hour comes this week from:

The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. After being honored with a “Lifetime Achievement” Grammy, the legendary Original Meters rhythm section of Zigaboo Modeliste and George Porter Jr. will team up with Cyril Neville and members of Dumpstaphunk at The Cap on Thursday, August 23. Foundation of Funk at The Cap will dive deep into the extensive catalog to create a truly unique Meters experience. Events, information, and ticketing at thecapitoltheatre.com.
