Grateful Dead Hour no. 1247

Week of August 13, 2012 Part 1 29:59 Grateful Dead 4/17/71 Dillon Gym, Princeton NJ GOOD LOVIN’ Part 2 26:04 Interview: Bill Payne Little Feat, Rooster Rag RAG TOP DOWN Interview: Bill Payne Little Feat, Rooster Rag ROOSTER RAG Interview: Bill Payne Little Feat 8/7/09 Billings MT TENNESSEE JED The new CD by Little Feat, Rooster Rag, includes four songs (including the title track) written by Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter and Little Feat’s keyboardist, Bill Payne. I’ve been a fan of the band since the very early ’70s, and I was delighted to hear their cover of “Tennessee Jed” at a Rex Foundation benefit a few years back. (The Dead’s 1978 album Shakedown Street was produced by the late Little Feat founder and slide guitar wizard Lowell George, by the way.)
