“Powers of Empathy”
Steve Silberman directed my attention to this short and wonderful article by Wyatt Mason on the Harper’s site. It’s a quick read with a delightful twist at the end.
“Weirdest” on Home Grown
David’s new studio CD, The Ones That Look the Weirdest Taste the Best, is now available at Leeway’s Home Grown Music Network.
Cool auction items for Michelle McFee
You’re seen my earlier posts about Words and Music: The Michelle McFee Benefit Concert in Santa Rosa December 19, with David Nelson and Friends, Rubber Souldiers, Bill Cutler, and a host of musical pals includng Mark Karan, Robin Sylvester, Pete Sears, Peter Albin, Dave Getz, and many more.
In addition to the concert, we’re also sponsoring a fundraising auction featuring some incredible items – posters, photos, literary items, and more, contributed by an even more incredible collection of people (like Jack Hirschman, Neil Gaiman, Michael Chabon, Ayelet Waldman, Bob Weir and Ratdog, Bob Minkin, and others).
Just added: A 1st-edition hardback copy of Neil Gaiman’s his best-selling 2002 novel, Coraline, with title page not only signed but hand-illustrated by the author: a rat in a nightshirt, wishing the reader “Sweet dreams.”
You can participate in the auction now, from wherever you are. Please click here to see the list of items and, if you’re so inclined, to place a bid!

Yes, I know that 6/23/74 is the superior performance, with the only GD “Let It Rock” and that amazing “Dark Star-> Spanish Jam-> US Blues.” But every 1974 show is worth hearing!
