From Gary Lambert: “Due to the ever-growing popularity of Dead & Company, the band and Rhino Records have teamed up to make high-quality audio recordings of entire tours available on major streaming platforms, as well as for purchase via download. The program began earlier this year with the Fall 2017 tour as well as several shows from early 2018 (the first “Playing In The Sand Event” as well as three shows originally scheduled for the fall in New Orleans and Florida, which had to be rescheduled due to John Mayer’s emergency appendectomy). The shows were released in groups of two per week, with selected tracks offered in video form on Dead & Company’s YouTube page. For more information, go to dead.net, and keep an eye out for more tour recordings to be released later this year.”

You’ve heard all or most of the tracks from the amazing album Garcia Songbook by Joe Craven and the Sometimers. The band performed live in the KPFA Performance studio in Berkeley on the day of our annual 16-hour fund-raising marathon, and we’ll hear more highlights from that set in the weeks to come.
The unreleased live Grateful Dead recording we’re enjoying right now was recorded by Larry Oppenheimer. It is the first known PCM digital recording of the band. Charlie Miller restored and remastered the recording (from VHS cassettes!). Our great thanks to both men for sharing this recording with us!
