Dead to the World – tonight and beyond

Tonight:

The new GD download is a CD and a half of 4/17/69, plus two songs from a 1/23/69 rehearsal. I’m listening to a killer “Other One” right now. I’ll play a good sampling of this two-disc set in the first hour tonight, and then get into some of the music I heard on my recent tour/vacation in Florida and Jamaica. You’ll probably hear The Mammals, Donna the Buffalo, Railroad Earth, Hot Buttered Rum, Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Guy Clark, and more.

Also on tap for tonight:
New Riders of the Purple Sage (featuring David Nelson and Buddy Cage with Michael Falzarano, Ronnie Penque and Johnny Markowski) and Tea Leaf Green, both playing shows in northern California in the very near future.

News of the future: live shows by Darol Anger‘s Republic of Strings (May 3, 9-10pm) and Hot Buttered Rum (June 7, 9-10pm). If you’d like to be in the studio audience for either of these, email me.

Update: I listened through both discs of the download today, and I look forward to hearing it some more. Tonight I’m going to play Dark Star-> St. Stephen-> I Know It’s a Sin-> St. Stephen and That’s It for The Other One-> Caution.

There’s a lot of excellent music – I’m also quite fond of the Morning Dew here – but also of interest is the talk. I don’t want to spoil the surprises, but I think you’ll find the chatter as amusing as I do.

  1. This one doesn’t circulate in good quality and never did on the archives. Then why not release more of these new boards rather than fight over the music. GDM has done this before; but not enough for me yet.

I’m getting a nice buzz from that Dark Star suite. The flac version is worth buying later on…
