“Starburst Commander” is the pseudonym of the author of a delightful memoir titled Confessions of a Dead Head. I posted some kind words and an excerpt a while back. The interview you’ll hear in this week’s program was broadcast live on KPFA’s Dead to the World on December 9, 2009. You can hear it here.

Confessions of a Dead Head is a quick read and a lot of fun. The Starburst Commander covers all the major aspects of being a Deadhead. I think everyone who likes the Dead or loves a Deadhead should read it.

Support for the Grateful Dead Hour comes this week from Hippie Uprising, a new CD mixing Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz and Novelty, and everything else in between, and featuring many of the Bay Area’s top performers including Maria Muldaur, Pete Sears, The Rowans, Nick Gravenites, Greg Douglass, Norton Buffalo, Kathi McDonald, the late John Cipollina, and many more. Audio samples and more information can be found at hippieuprising.com
