David Gans continues to honor the Dead
Musician, writer, historian plays Buchanan Common

Excerpt:

“One of the most important things that I learned from the Grateful Dead was to treat all material equally,” Gans says by phone from his home in Oakland. “The Dead were amazing songwriters and really, really brilliant interpreters of other people’s music. Then, of course, there is a lot of improvisation in there as well, so I consider myself a spiritual child of the Grateful Dead in that I treat all material equally and just try to tell a story without favoring one or the other.”
