The three songs that constitute part 1 of this week’s show have in common lyrics by Robert Hunter, who has been delivering a steady flow of masterpieces in the last few years. All but one of the songs on Bob Dylan’s Together Through Life were co-written with Hunter, by the way. Another outstanding collection of recent Hunter songs is Jim Lauderdale‘s Patchwork River. Enjoy!

GD Hour station list changes

Just got word that we have lost KKID (Rolla MO). Sorry to hear it!

The current GD Hour station list is here.

If you aren’t in an area that receives the GD Hour over the air, let’s see if we can find a radio station to carry it.

And as always, we are looking for businesses and individuals who would like to support the GD Hour with on-air underwriting. Contact us if you would like to know more.

I don’t do year-end “best of” lists, but if I did, 7 Walkers would be on it. Bill Kreutzmann has hit a nice deep groove with Papa Mali, Matt Hubbard, and Reed Mathis – and the touring edition of the band, with George Porter, Jr. (whose birthday is today!) on bass (Mathis was a temp for the studio session, I guess), is kicking ass all over town. And Robert Hunter’s lyrics on this record are amazing! I’ve said this a lot lately, so believe me ’cause I know what I’m talking about: Hunter is doing great work these last few years, with 7 Walkers, Jim Lauderdale, David Nelson (watch for a new New Riders album full of Hunter-Nelson gems in 2011), Bob Dylan – and more to come, I’m sure.
