That whole epic sequence is listed on the CD as “Truckin’,” but there’s so much more going on! Coming out of the song, Jerry Garcia plays slide guitar in the jam, and there’s a very solid but brief instrumental reading of “Nobody’s Fault But Mine” – and then they’re off to the races with a great jam. Phil Lesh plays a good long bass solo accompanied only by drummer Bill Kreutzmann. Then the jam that goes hither and yon through lots of sweet swingin’ quiet passages. This was recorded June 22, 1973 in Vancouver, Canada, and it’s on the amazing Pacific Northwest boxed set, available from dead.net. (And the “Other One” and “Wharf Rat” that follow are also sterling!)
