Corry Arnold is a blogger who does amazing research on the history of the Grateful Dead and related historical and musical subjects. Lost Live Dead is an indispensable resource if you’re interested in this stuff. Here is his entry on the fascinating events of a weekend at the Fillmore West in June of 1969.
Corry was born and raised in Northern California. His first rock concert was the Grateful Dead at Winterland on December 12, 1972, and “things have been hopeless ever since.” From that time onwards, he has been working on rock and roll history, with an emphasis on the forgotten and the unseen. In addition to Lost Live Dead, Corry posts great stuff at Hooterollin’ Around, Rock Prosopography 101, and Rock Archaeology 101.
Corry is also a co-conspirator on the Chicken On A Unicycle site
Support for The Grateful Dead Hour comes this week from Winery Sixteen 600, announcing the release of the 2009 vintage Syrah Cabernet and Estate Zinfandel, all grown by pioneer organic grape grower and devout Dead Head Phil Coturri and featuring label art designed by Stanley Mouse. Sycamore Slough String Band in Berkeley 4/12

Sycamore Slough String Band plays The Monkey House in Berkeley Friday, April 12, at 7:30 pm. Click here for info and reservations.
Sycamore Slough String Band is an acoustic quartet brought together by a mutual love of the music of the Grateful Dead. We don’t pretend to be the acoustic Dead: we tell these stories in our own voices, and we play a lot of songs the Dead never did in their acoustic sets. Nor do we limit ourselves to Grateful Dead material: our debut CD, First Rehearsals, also includes songs by George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and Peter Rowan.
“Drop the Bone”
I am thrilled to announce that I have half a song on Peter Rowan‘s new CD, The Old School. We started writing “Drop the Bone” a couple of summers ago when we were both playing at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, we worked on it at Peter’s house a couple of times shortly after that, and then Pete took it on the road and perfected it with his Bluegrass Band.
The Old School is available for download and CD pre-order now from the Compass Records web site. Give it a listen, and buy a copy if you like what you hear!
